POM-02 is a sensitive solar radiometer for the routine automated measurement of direct and scattered solar radiation at eleven wavelengths for the calculation of aerosol distributions. Direct solar measurement use an integrated solar tracker with active sun sensor correction. Diffuse and scattered measurements use programmed sky scans. POM-02 is simple to install and operate. The adjustable base has a built-in bubble level. An integrated sun sensor provides active solar tracking.

Measurement times & cycles logging of signal through any, or all, filters are easily programmable. POM-02 comes with Windows™ control and data logging software. The instrument must be connected via the RS-422 port to a computer running the supplied software in order to operate.

POM-02 provides solar spectral data that can be post-processed by the expert user to derive various atmospheric parameters, including:
- optical depth
- aerosol size distribution
- single scattering albedo
- complex refractive index
